It allows you to play the training level which prepares you for the full version of Genocide, available on PC CDROM or Internet direct download from http://www.kaoskontrol.com Features not included in the demo version are: - Multiplayer support - High quality sound fx - Most enemy characters and items - Full editor/game save support - Some full motion video sequences Some bugs known bugs in the demo: - Enemy AI has not been fully implemented - Sometimes, switching to a different display mode may hang the game You can always find the latest version of the Genocide Demo on http://www.kaoskontrol.com INSTALLING GENOCIDE DEMO ======================== If you have any trouble installing or running Genocide, make sure your system meets the following minimum system requirements: - Windows95(tm) - Pentium 90 Mhz or compatible processor(120 Mhz+ recommended) - 16 MB Memory - 15 MB Free hard disk space(25 MB for Full Version) - Microsoft DirectX 3 or later(DirectX 5 or later recommended) - Windows95(tm) Compatible soundcard(recommended) MICROSOFT DIRECTX ================= Genocide Windows95 Edition requires Microsoft DirectX version 3 or later. You probably already have DirectX installed on your system, but if you find that Genocide does not run successfully on your computer, you may want to obtain and install DirectX. You can download DirectX Version 5 or later directly from Microsoft at www.microsoft.com. (http://www.microsoft.com/directx). The latest version of DirectX is also included on the CD-ROM of the full version of Genocide. Hit www.kaoskontrol.com for more information and ordering info. UNINSTALLING GENOCIDE ===================== You may uninstall Genocide by double-clicking the Add/Remove programs dialog from the Windows95 control panel. ( Click Start/Settings/ Control Panel ). DISTRIBUTING DEMO VERSION GENOCIDE ================================== If you obtained the Demo Version of Genocide from the Internet, magazine cover disks, friends, etc., you may freely distribute your Demo Copy of Genocide, either directly or on the Internet, as long as you do not charge any fee for it. You must distribute the entire setup file and you may not modify, delete or add any files. RETAIL GENOCIDE =============== Distribution of the Retail, Full or Registered Version of Genocide is prohibited by law. Distribution, copy, sale or modification of the Full Version of Genocide is prohibited by Federal Law and International Treaties and will be prosecuted to the maximum extent of the law. In addition to this readme, Genocide provides the following readme files: Tech.doc Contains technical information for customizing Genocide. Available with Full Version only. Order.doc Provides an easy way to order the Full Version of Genocide. Order by Phone, Fax, Mail, E-Mail or the Internet. UPDATING GENOCIDE ================= You can update Genocide to the latest available version (Full version only) by downloading and running the latest available patch/bug fix from our website. To update your copy of Genocide, do the following: - Check the version number of Genocide you are running. To do this, press ESC during the game to display the on-screen menu, then select Help/Ordering from the available options. The version number of Genocide will be displayed. - Check our website if there are any updates available. You should only install patches or updates with a higher version number. - Download the update from our website and run the program by double-clicking it. Follow the on-screen instructions.
